AK-74, AKA Harry Guntrip, AKA Joel Moore, is a singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music producer based in Scotland. He employs live instuments, blending elements of Indie-guitar with analogue synths and introspective vocal narratives. AK-74 now emerges as a force of cumulative work- encompassing several decades of experimentation and self-reflection, manifesting in a collection of finely crafted, melodic compositions.
Finding his feet in a mid 90s Indie-Punk scene Joel became emersed in music by bands such as Royal Trux, Sonic Younth and Pavement. He bagan to expore his own sounds, combining acoustic instruments with an old casette recorder before moving to a Fostex 8-track and playing around with producing his own mixes. A facination with people and their inner experiences grew from working on Psychiatric units and as an Art Therapist and his music gradually evolved a deeper insight into the human condition. Inspired by solo artists and fellow multi-instumentalists such as Cornelius, Sufjan Stevens and Fog, AK-74 embodies Joel's passion for creative composition and inovative song writing.
Joel is currently working on new material from his coastal studio at Wacamole Records. He is rehearsing for live performances in 2024/25 whilst developing the production of his debut album, set to release in 2025.
